Statement
I am interested in the human condition, the complexity of our true selves, and the dialogue between perception and the representation of self. To capture the qualities that embody my understanding of the collective conscience, I snap spontaneous photographs and collect imagery from friends and strangers on the internet. I am constantly studying and constantly collecting. Making is an intuitive process for me. I paint, cut, paste, and sew in a way I think mimics the composite nature of our beings. Cultural and historical references, social indoctrination, spiritual symbolism and more, all mix together in my resource reservoir. Imagery from childhood, memory, fairytales, astrology, tarot, mythology, pop culture, art history and social media serve as a language for me to understand and explore personal identity within the confines of society’s expectations.
